Trump and Xi Jinping had tea at the White House, saying great progress had been made

After US President Trump held a bilateral meeting with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday, he then had tea with Xi Jinping at the White House today. Trump said, "We have made tremendous progress." Xi Jinping said that this visit positioned Sino-US relations as a constructive, strategic and stable relationship of mutual respect and fairness. The two are expected to meet two more times by the end of this year.

Xi Jinping made his second state visit to the United States after 11 years, and yesterday visited the White House to hold a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump. This is also the second meeting between the two this year since the Beijing Summit in May.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump once again welcomed Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the White House this morning, and the two couples later had tea in the Red Room.

Trump wrote on his social media platform "Truth Social" earlier today that his meeting with Xi Jinping was fruitful for both the United States and China, and that major things will happen, but did not provide further details.

Trump later spoke about Xi Jinping's visit in his opening speech at the tea party, saying: "I think we have made tremendous progress. We have made great progress, and it is very positive for both countries."

Xi Jinping then expressed his gratitude in his speech and said, "Our visit was very successful." He felt very satisfied. He said that when Trump visited China in May, the two sides positioned the Sino-US relationship as a constructive strategic and stable relationship, and this time they expanded it and positioned the Sino-US relationship as a constructive, strategic and stable relationship of mutual respect, fairness and equality. "The future of US-China relations is brighter."

He also said that he expected to have two more meetings with Trump this year, one at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in China and the other at the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Miami, USA. "We welcome Mr. President and his wife to visit China."

Trump responded: "Thank you very much, we will, we will have a lot of communication."
