Study on sectional speed measurement markings

According to the information provided by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Stanisław Bukowiec, a research program will soon be launched to verify the effectiveness of placing information on the speed limit on the sectional speed measurement sign (OPP).

During the discussion, all members of the National Road Safety Council unanimously adopted a resolution on joining the research program, under which D-51a information signs will include information reminding about the maximum speed that is possible on sections of expressways, expressways and motorways - said the deputy minister during a press conference after the National Road Safety Council. He added that this study will be carried out by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.

The argument in favor of this solution is, among others: preventing dangerous situations when drivers brake suddenly before the sign.

It often happens that drivers brake suddenly before the sign that starts or ends the speed measurement. There are many situations that may affect safety, emphasized Deputy Minister Bukowiec.

We want to remind you that speed is a factor that has a major impact on the safety of all roads, he added.

The proposal to supplement the OPP signage with the speed limit has recently become popular, also on social media. Deputy Minister Bukowiec noted that this issue was analyzed, among others, based on applications and interpellations submitted by MPs and senators.

Minister Dariusz Klimczak publicly asked this information with a question. This information met with enormous public interest, said Stanisław Bukowiec.

As the deputy minister stated, the research program will be carried out on expressways.

The analysis from this project will be the basis for us to later introduce legislative changes so that this sign comes into force - he said.
