Baden-Württemberg: Hot late summer day followed by a cold front with thunderstorms and squalls

Baden-Württemberg is facing another hot late summer day: The German Weather Service is expecting highs of 27 degrees in the High Black Forest to 33 degrees along the Rhine this Tuesday. After initially denser clouds and isolated showers in some areas, the sun appears in many places.

But the summer weather is over for now: a cold front will move across the southwest on Wednesday night. Meteorologists expect heavy rain and strong thunderstorms from the southwest. Gusts or severe squalls of up to 90 kilometers per hour, small hail and locally heavy rain are possible. There is a low probability that hurricane-like gusts are even possible on Lake Constance and in Upper Swabia.

On Wednesday it will remain wet, especially along and south of the Swabian Alb, and thunderstorms are also possible there at first. From the northwest, however, the rainfall decreases over the course of the day. With highs between 15 and 22 degrees it will be significantly cooler.
