Statement from the Minister Institution on the COP31 Process and Electrification Target

COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum made statements about the COP31 process on his virtual media account.

Minister Kurum used the following statements in his statements:

We discussed clean energy transformation and electrification at the High-Level Energy Conversion Solutions Dialogue Meeting at the United Nations Headquarters, with the honor of First Lady Emine Erdoğan.

With this understanding, as the COP31 Presidency, we set a global target to increase the share of electricity in global final energy consumption to 35 percent by 2035.

With our COP31 Electrification Commitment, which we have prepared in line with this goal and will share with our action agenda outputs, we aim to put forward an inclusive approach that takes into account different national conditions and priorities, and to create a common ground that can provide the broadest possible support.

At COP31, we will host a summit where concrete results, not words, will be discussed, and together we will share the will of implementation with the whole world.
