Severe flood and downpour in Ankara: The road collapsed in Keçiören, 15 vehicles got stuck in the ditch

The heavy downpour and flood that hit Ankara yesterday evening had a negative impact on life. While there were depressions on the road following the flood waters in Gülgün Street in Keçiören district, approximately 15 vehicles got stuck in the potholes. The heavily damaged vehicles were removed from their location by the teams. After the vehicles, the street was closed to traffic for security reasons. The teams started filling and repair work on the road with construction equipment.

Stating that there was a collapse on the road and parked cars were damaged due to the heavy rain, Vedat Saygıner said, "When I came from work last night, the rain was quite effective, but it was not like it would bring this place to this shape. The current was like a flood. Then, a little later, there was a sewage explosion. Ankara's sewage continues from here. As we saw on television, there was a flow dragging the cars. The cars were parked in rows here. This time, it was a landslide because the rain carried away the soil. Cars "All of the cars fell vertically into the ditch. All of the cars got water from their engines. During the night, all 10-15 cars were destroyed," he said.

Stating that there was an explosion in the sewer line due to the overflow caused by flood waters, Saygıner said, "The rain had an impact, but the main explosion was the sewer explosion. All sewage and sewage always pass through here. We experienced a flood, there was a flow as it happened. There is nothing in the houses. There is only material damage to the vehicles."

Hayrettin Yücel, who called on the authorities to repair the road where the pits and crevices were formed, said, "ASKİ is passing a canal from here. This work was on the Etlik side, this time they came to this side, but they do not finish and leave. They dig on one side, leaving the place they dig unfinished. There is a problem in rainy weather. This is torture and cruelty to the citizens. ASKİ needs to finish and close this place as soon as possible. It was not this much before the rain, but after the rain, the flood waters take away the soil. That is why the erosion "There is a hole of nearly 2 meters here.
