Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it has launched an investigation into social media allegations regarding the death of Arif Ahmet Denizolgun.

Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it has launched an investigation into the allegations published on social media regarding the death of former Minister of Transport Arif Ahmet Denizolgun on September 7, 2016.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that it was determined that "untrue, manipulative and misleading content regarding Denizolgun's death was published" on the social media channel named "TR 7 24".

The statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:

“Regarding the unfounded allegations on social media regarding the death of the late Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, former Minister of Transport

Regarding the investigation carried out by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the death of the late Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, former Minister of Transport, on 07/09/2016, it was determined that untrue, manipulative and misleading content was published on the social media channel named "TR 7 24".

Our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an ex officio investigation against the person or persons who prepared, published and disseminated the content in question, within the scope of the crime of "Publicly Disseminating Misleading Information" regulated in Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.

Within the scope of the investigation; "Istanbul Provincial Police Department Security Branch Directorate has been instructed to identify the statements in the social media broadcast, to determine the clear identity and address information of the person or persons making these statements, and to carry out the necessary legal proceedings."
