Düsseldorf. Der Chemiekonzern BASF hat das Spezialchemie-Unternehmen Evonik mit Übernahmeplänen kontaktiert. Das erfuhr das Handelsblatt aus Kreisen von Beteiligten. Zuerst hatte die „Financial Times“ (FT) darüber berichtet.

Die Ludwigshafener sind sowohl an Evonik selbst wie auch den Hauptaktionär, die RAG‑Stiftung, herangetreten. Es liege aber kein Übernahmeangebot vor, heißt es in den Kreisen. BASF habe bereits Banken für eine mögliche Übernahme angesprochen.

Beide Aktien reagierten deutlich auf den Bericht. Während die BASF-Papiere um bis zu 2,8 Prozent nachgaben, legten die Titel von Evonik im MDax um bis zu elf Prozent zu. BASF kommt derzeit auf eine Marktkapitalisierung von rund 47 Milliarden Euro, während Evonik an der Börse zuletzt mit gut acht Milliarden Euro bewertet wurde.

Beide Unternehmen stecken, wie die gesamte Chemiebranche in Deutschland, in einer Krise. Hohe Energiepreise in Europa und die zunehmende Konkurrenz aus Asien setzen die Firmen unter Druck.
