Taitung County Mayor candidate Chen Ying visits South Korea to promote agricultural upgrading and international tourism

Taitung County Mayor candidate Chen Ying returned to Taiwan after completing the "Taitung Agricultural Specialties, Heading to South Korea" trip and expressed her experience during the visit, emphasizing that "if South Korea can do it, Taitung can do it too!" demonstrating her determination to promote agricultural upgrading and international tourism.

Chen Ying pointed out that this visit successfully resulted in the export of 50,000 "Pineapple Custard Apple Frozen Fresh Fruit Bars" to South Korea. This product uses cold chain technology subsidized by the Ministry of Agriculture to retain the taste of fresh fruit and extend the sales period. After being put on the shelves of FamilyMart group buying channels in August this year, it officially entered the Korean market in October. In the future, she will continue to leverage her business connections to expand the export scale of Taitung's agricultural products.

In terms of agricultural policy, Chen Ying observed the experience of Pocheon City. Pocheon City's "K-Smart Farm" model combines AI and automated greenhouses, and provides free soil testing, improvement and loan of agricultural machinery through the Agricultural Technology Education Center, combined with low-interest loans to attract young farmers to invest. Chen Ying said that this coincides with her political views on the introduction of smart cold chains, shared equipment and AI climate early warning. In the future, she will refer to South Korea's experience to accelerate the upgrading of Taitung's agriculture and the succession of young farmers.

In terms of tourism development, Chen Ying is deeply inspired by South Korea’s combination of historical film and television and food culture to promote tourism. She advocated building a "local wine map", "tea drink guide" and "rice food illustration" for various towns in Taitung on the basis of "slow food culture", and planned to promote local culture in a rotating format of "one year's rice exhibition and one year's tea exhibition", and at the same time continue the "Taitung Expo" to consolidate Taitung's international tourism brand.

Chen Ying emphasized that it is crucial for the county chief to have an international perspective and connections. She mentioned the global Taiwanese business and corporate resources accumulated from studying in the United States and serving as a legislator for five terms. She is confident that she can use her foreign language and international communication skills to implement the vision of "Taitung, the entrance to the world" and transform Taitung from Taiwan's back mountain into an international front door facing the Pacific.
