Iran's foreign minister says he is ready to resume war with the United States but has not yet given up on diplomatic channels

China News Service, September 28. According to a report by Iran's Mahr News Agency on the 27th, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that Iran is ready to resume war with the United States, but has not yet given up contact through diplomatic channels.

According to reports, Araghchi said in an interview with NBC that day, "We are fully prepared for the resumption of fighting." At the same time, "We are also ready for diplomatic contacts at any time. This depends on the choice of US President Trump."

Previously, Araghchi announced at a press conference held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the 25th that Iran had conveyed a plan to the United States through Qatar to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. If the United States takes necessary actions accordingly, the Strait of Hormuz can be reopened within seven days and normal shipping can resume. However, the US "Wall Street Journal" reported on the 25th that Trump rejected Iran's relevant proposals and told his aides that he might resume bombing Iran after the US congressional midterm elections in November this year.

Iran's Mahr News Agency reported on the 27th that Araghchi said that despite Trump's public remarks, the United States has not formally conveyed its decision to reject it to Iran through the mediator. He reiterated that Iran is ready to reopen the strait as part of an agreement to end the conflict; in exchange, "we demand the release of illegally seized funds and assets and hope to be able to sell oil."

Araghchi pointed out that these conditions "are not new requirements" but are matters that the United States has previously committed to in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. "I don't think we should miss any opportunity to achieve peace," he said.

"We don't care about the U.S. midterm elections," Araghchi added, "we care about our national interests."

In response to a possible attack by the United States on Iran, Iranian military spokesman Akraminiya said on the 27th that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared and will do their best to fight. He pointed out that "the priority of the United States is to ensure the security of the Israeli regime and safeguard its own interests, not the interests of Islamic countries in the region." Expelling American forces from West Asia will make the region more secure.
