The summer of 2026 went down in the history of weather observations in Foggy Albion. Previously, the summer of 1976 had the status of the hottest and driest summer. However, the summer of 2026 broke a half-century record: thus, the past season set a record for average, maximum and minimum temperatures, as well as the number of tropical nights.

By the end of July of this year, more days with temperatures above plus 30 were recorded than in the entire summer of 1976, and by the end of the season, according to meteorologists, their number reached 33. The air warmed up to plus 35 degrees this year over four months - from May to September. The average summer temperature in the UK exceeded long-term values ​​by almost two degrees and broke last year's record. Drought has affected more than half of England and all of Wales this summer.
