United Arab Emirates imposes indefinite trade embargo on Iran

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that they imposed an indefinite trade embargo on Iran after Iran announced that two ballistic missiles were launched towards the country. Iran, on the other hand, denied the missile claim and argued that the accusations were "contrary to the principle of good neighborliness".

TRADE EMBARGO FROM UAE TO IRAN

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that all trade, commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran have been stopped "until further notice" due to the escalation of tensions in the region.

The ministry said the decision was taken "in light of the escalation of tensions that undermine peace and security in the region."

According to the UAE state news agency WAM, no further details regarding the implementation of the decision have been shared yet.

UAE: 2 BALLISTIC MISSILES WERE DETECTED

The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems detected two ballistic missiles allegedly launched from Iran.

The Ministry reported that the first of the missiles fell into the sea outside the territorial waters of the UAE, and the second fell into the sea within the territorial waters.

It was stated that as a result of the evaluations, it was determined that the missiles were targeting maritime traffic.

The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that it is on full alert to protect the country's sovereignty, security and stability, and announced that it will take decisive action against initiatives that threaten maritime activities and navigation security in the region.

IRAN REJECTED THE MISSILE CLAIM

Tehran administration rejected the UAE's accusations.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi said that the allegations that a missile was launched from Iranian territory towards the UAE were "unfounded".

Bekayi stated that the allegations in question were "contrary to the principle of good neighborliness" and called on the countries in the region not to make unfounded accusations about Iran.

The Iranian spokesman also argued that the accusations harm efforts to strengthen trust among regional countries.

Bekayi claimed that the claim in question was a "false flag operation" carried out during the US and Israel's attacks on Iran. He stated that the "malicious actions" of the USA and Israel should also be taken into account when evaluating the developments in the region.

TENSION IS INCREASING IN THE MIDDLE EAST

The UAE's decision comes in the shadow of rising tensions in the region following joint US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

In response to the attacks, the Tehran administration launched attacks against some countries in the region, including the UAE, where the US has military assets.

In mid-June, Iran and the USA signed a memorandum of understanding under the mediation of Pakistan to end the war and reach a permanent peace agreement.

However, the negotiations reached an impasse due to disagreements between the parties regarding the terms of the agreement and the passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for global energy exports.
