Campaign posters were hung for the general election in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3.4 million voters were registered

Within the scope of the campaign period announced by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CIK), posters with photographs of the candidates and propaganda of political parties were hung in many parts of the country, especially in the capital Sarajevo.

According to the information on the CIK official website, 3 million 414 thousand 364 people registered to the voter lists in the election. There are 10 candidates: 4 for the Bosnian membership, 3 for the Serb membership and 3 for the Croatian membership of the Presidential Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 12 candidates for the presidency of the Republika Srpska, one of the two entities in the country.

Voters within the borders of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will vote for the Bosnian and Croatian members, and voters in the RS will vote for the Serbian member. In the tenth general election to be held after the Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992-1995, the people will vote to determine the Bosnian, Serb and Croat members of the Tripartite Presidential Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the governments and deputies at the cantonal, entity and state levels.

CIK fully or partially approved the applications of 75 political parties and 4 independent candidates to participate in the general election, while allowing 29 coalitions to participate in the elections.

While general elections are held every 4 years in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the last general election was held on October 2, 2022.
