BR-163 will undergo modernization works to increase safety and fluidity
Duplications, marginal roads, intersections and new devices are planned throughout the first years of the highway concession.

Since the beginning of the BR-163 concession, in April 2026, Via Campo has worked on the recovery, conservation and signaling of the highway, in addition to the implementation of the Operational Service Bases (BSOs) and the restoration works on the Ayrton Senna Bridge, in Guaíra (PR).
In addition to the services that are already being carried out, BR-163 will undergo a series of modernization interventions throughout the first years of the concession. The concessionaire's planning includes duplication works, implementation of marginal roads, diamond intersections, parclo-type devices (partial interchange), U-turns, wildlife crossings and the Guaíra Contour.
These interventions are part of a set of actions provided for in the concession contract and aim to increase safety, improve traffic flow and modernize the BR-163 infrastructure.
"The concession represents an important change in the infrastructure standard of BR-163. We are talking about a set of interventions that, over the next few years, will contribute to a safer, more efficient highway prepared to meet the mobility and development demands of the region", says Pedro Veloso, Engineering director at Via Campo.

First stage
In the first stage, it is planned to build 1.32 km of marginal roads between km 197.6 and 236.2, with completion scheduled for April 2029.
The stretch will also receive a trumpet work, at km 212.2, concave curve lighting, at km 214.6, two parclo-type devices, at km 218.6 and 232.5, and a U-turn, at km 223.87.
Second stage
Between km 236.2 and 248.4, two U-turns will be built, at km 236.53 and 240.38, in addition to an OAE (Special Work of Art) at km 239.86. Completion is scheduled for April 2030.
In the section between km 276.8 and 301.9, 16.2 km of duplication and 1.7 km of marginal roads are planned. Three diamond-type devices will also be implemented, at km 293.58, 298.94 and 301.9, in addition to a fauna crossing.
The second stage also includes the Guaíra Contour, 3.71 km long, a trumpet work and two diamond-type devices, at km 1.66 and 3.58.
Third stage
The third stage foresees 13.3 km of duplication and 1.1 km of marginal roads, between km 301.9 and 315.2.
Two X-turns are also scheduled, at km 304.88 and 313.24, an elongated roundabout, at km 307.65, and an OAE (bridge over the Guaçu River), at km 311.4. The completion of this stage is scheduled for April 2031.

Fourth stage
Between km 315.2 and 343.9, 28.7 km of duplication will be carried out and a diamond-type device will be implemented at km 318.7. The interventions are expected to be completed by April 2032.
The stretch will also receive returns at X and an OAE (bridge over the Tatuí River), at km 340.35.
Investments
Via Campo is responsible for the operation, maintenance and modernization of Lot 5 of the Integrated Highways of Paraná, which covers 433 kilometers of federal and state highways in the West and North regions of the State.

Over the 30 years of the concession, more than R$11.8 billion in investments are planned. Of this total, approximately R$6.7 billion will be allocated to expansion works and structural improvements and around R$5.1 billion to the operation and maintenance of the road network.
