On the afternoon of September 7, the Drug Crime Prevention Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security (C04) said it had just coordinated with the Vietnam Coast Guard, Border Guard and Customs to destroy a drug transport network that took advantage of fishing vessels at sea from foreign countries through Vietnamese waters to take to a third country for consumption. Case 126MT was dismantled on May 25.

Searching the fishing vessel BT-92066-TS in waters bordering Vietnam - Indonesia, authorities discovered 58 sacks hidden in the walls on both sides of the ship, containing 1,160 white crystal packets disguised as tea bags. The inspection results determined that the total amount was 1.16 tons of Ketamine. The value of the drugs seized on the black drug market is about 800 billion VND.

C04 fought and exploited 4 crew members of ship BT-92066-TS and identified the coordinator of the crime as Tran Ngoc Danh. Police later arrested Danh and Nguyen Van Nghiem who were on their way to flee abroad by illegal routes.

When arrested, the police determined that Danh had asked Niem to bring 1.2 billion VND to the case to get the ship out to retrieve the 1.16 tons of drugs hidden on the ship.

Currently, C04 has prosecuted 4 defendants for illegal transportation of drugs, 4 people for bribery, 1 person for bribery and illegal transportation of drugs. The police also recovered more than 1.2 billion VND that the defendants used to commit acts of bribery and bribery.

This is one of the cases of particularly large drug shipments discovered and seized at sea.

Arrested 740 people related to drugs

In addition, C04 also chaired and coordinated with eight local police to destroy case 291T. To date, police units have arrested 740 suspects, confiscated more than 103 kg of synthetic drugs, and nearly 6 ml of etomidate. Of which, C04 arrested 14, Hanoi 94, Hung Yen 85, Hai Phong 272, Bac Ninh 32, Phu Tho 8, Thanh Hoa 200, Nghe An 35.

C04 and the Police Investigation Agency of local police then prosecuted 212 cases, 540 defendants for the crimes of possessing, transporting, trading, organizing the use, illegal use of narcotics and not reporting crimes.

Authorities also handled 139 people for administrative violations and sent 48 people to forced drug treatment.

In this case, C04 assessed that there were many dangerous suspects. Typically, Cao Ngoc Sang, 36 years old, residing in Thanh Hoa, leads a group of cyber gangsters who store and organize the illegal use of drugs and do not report crimes.

According to C04, there are currently nearly 300,000 people illegally using drugs, addicted to drugs and being managed after withdrawal. In particular, violations of drug laws among workers, laborers, contractors, and foremen tend to increase. Some artists, influential people in the entertainment industry, and officials and party members are also involved in drugs, causing frustration.

From the beginning of 2026 until now, the country's anti-drug police force has successfully busted more than 17,600 cases, arrested more than 35/300 people, seized nearly 100 kg of heroin, 30 kg of cocaine, 407 kg of marijuana, 953 kg and nearly 900,000 synthetic drug pills, 1.16 tons of ketamine, 50 tons of caffeine and 116 kg of other drugs. other. C04 alone arrested 26 cases and 1,067 suspects.
