On the morning of August 26, a mudslide occurred on the Nepal side, causing heavy casualties and loss of contact at the Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Shigatse City, Tibet. Today, search and rescue teams continue to advance towards the core area affected by the disaster and carry out personnel search and rescue work.

At the road rush operation site, there is a waiting area for trucks transporting boulders. The boulders are transported there first, and then allocated based on the needs of the working surface.

Headquarters reporter Zhao Xiong: This is a relatively peripheral area to the core site of the road rush in front of the washed-out section of National Highway 216. A warning cordon was raised here for the first time today. What is its purpose? Several large trucks are parked here waiting, all of which are pulling giant stones with a diameter of at least one meter or even two meters. These stones will be transported to the core construction area ahead to fill the roadbed.

The most difficult part of the work site today is the gully area, because the water rushing down from the high altitude can create an impact below. The newly laid stones are likely to be damaged twice under such impact, so today there are so many large trucks that have to continuously transport the stones to the site.

Because large trucks are very large and bulky, it is difficult for two such vehicles to go the wrong way on some sections of the national highway. The reporter had to get off the car and walk about three kilometers away from the core area today. The main reason was to let the vehicles they were traveling in wait outside and let the passage out. This was also done to provide better access to the site.
