Trump appoints Adam Tilley as acting Secretary of the Army after Dan Driscoll's resignation

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Adam Tilley - who currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works - will assume the duties of Acting Secretary of the Army, following the resignation of Dan Driscoll earlier this week.

Trump wrote in a post on his “Truth Social” platform: “I am pleased to announce that Adam Tilley, the current Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, will assume the position of Acting Secretary of the Army, effective immediately. He is a great patriot who is respected by everyone.”

Driscoll, a former Army soldier and long-time friend of Vice President J.D. Vance, announced on Tuesday that Wednesday would be his "last full day in this position."

His departure from office comes after months of reported tensions with Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, and at a time when the war on Iran is entering its sixth month.

Hegseth congratulated Mr. Tilly in a post on the “X” platform, saying: “Our warm congratulations to Adam. He is a very strong and intelligent person. He is truly a great patriot, and will be a valuable addition to the US Army.”
