Pakistan announces its readiness to provide its military capabilities to Saudi Arabia under a new joint defense agreement with Türkiye

Asif said during a visit to Rome: “Pakistani military capabilities will be available to Saudi Arabia under the new mutual defense treaty with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.”

He added: “I will not go into details, but it is clear that when I say that we are bound by this arrangement to defend Saudi Arabia, this means that any means available at our disposal will also be available to Saudi Arabia. I think this statement is clear.”

Asif did not explicitly confirm Pakistani participation in any air strikes on Yemen, nor did he disclose whether Saudi Arabia, which has been subjected to repeated attacks by the Houthis in recent weeks, had requested assistance.

Asif's comments came days after the army chiefs of Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia met in Riyadh to discuss the response to the Houthi attacks.

Earlier, Pakistani army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that his country will do “everything in its power” to defend Saudi Arabia, stressing that Islamabad’s commitment to the Kingdom is “unconditional,” and that it stands by it “diplomatically and practically,” indicating his country’s readiness to go to “extreme lengths” if necessary.
