Runaway truck knocks down pole, hits vehicles and damages businesses in Ceará; see video

A truck ran down a road, knocked down a pole, hit parked vehicles and damaged the facade of a mechanic workshop on Avenida Vereador Antônio Ferreira Portela, in Mucambo, in the interior of Ceará, this Friday morning (9).

Images recorded by security cameras captured the moment the vehicle went down the avenue, hitting several objects. Despite the destruction caused, no one was injured.

According to Antônio Eugênio Oliveira dos Santos, owner of the workshop whose porch and part of the facade were knocked down by the truck, the driver of the vehicle got out to go to a snack bar and forgot to apply the handbrake.

"He went to have a snack at a snack bar about 300 meters away. There is a descent and as he didn't apply the handbrake the truck went downhill, hit the pole, knocked over the porch and hit the cars in the workshop", said Antônio Eugênio.

According to the owner of the workshop, among the cars hit by the truck was a Military Police vehicle from the city of Pacujá, which was parked in front of the establishment.

Eugênio and the other owners of the affected vehicles registered a police report at the Pacujá Police Station.
