Candidate Elmano promises to expand student assistance at universities in Ceará

The statement took place during a press conference, just before a walk in the João XXIII neighborhood, in Fortaleza. The mayor of the capital, Evandro Leitão (PT), the president of the Chamber of Fortaleza, Leo Couto (PSB), among other candidates and allies, were with the PT member.

The measure adds to the manager's other goals, such as implementing the full-time and vocational education model in all state schools, in addition to increasing the number of young people graduating from the state education network who go on to higher education.

Regarding state universities in Ceará, Elmano spoke about reinforcing the student assistance policy and promised to complete eight campuses that are currently under construction in the interior of the state, among other actions, in a possible second term.

"We want to guarantee, and we will do this, that every university campus has a university restaurant, so that we can guarantee special attention to school transport. Today this is basically done by city halls. We want to make an important investment in the university to create the largest university student assistance policy in Ceará, so that young people from humble families who enter college can enter college, continue at their college and complete their higher education course", promised the candidate.

Asked about possible new improvements on the campuses of the State University of Ceará (Uece) and about hiring new teachers for state universities, Elmano replied that he will continue to hire new teachers, without detailing numbers or hiring regimes.

"The most important thing for the university today, in my opinion, is a student assistance policy, which guarantees transportation, food at the university and guarantees an academic scholarship for young people to experience the university in its academic aspect."
