National Taiwan Normal University women’s football team’s blood sampling case, coach Zhou Taiying was prosecuted by the Beijing Prosecutor’s Office

Zhou Taiying, a key figure in the blood sampling case of the National Taiwan Normal University women's football team, was prosecuted by the Beijing Prosecutor's Office.

Last year, the National Taiwan Normal University women's football team's blood sampling case attracted national attention. Coach Zhou Taiying was prosecuted by the Beijing Prosecutor's Office on charges of embezzlement, fraud and other crimes. The school responded that the relevant content is in the judicial process, and the school cooperates in providing information, and the test fees have been raised and returned to the students.

The blood-drawing case of the National Taiwan Normal University women's football team was revealed at the end of last year. Students accused Zhou Taiying of "drawing blood in exchange for credits" and the test fees were paid back to the team. The National Taiwan Normal University subsequently held a teaching council meeting on the matter and decided to fire her and impose a penalty of being barred from being employed as a teacher for four years.

Taiying Zhou was prosecuted for embezzlement and fraud for allegedly defrauding NT$20,000 when implementing the "Far Infrared Project" subsidized by the National Science Council, NT$3,000 when implementing the "Waist Strengthening Training Program" subsidized by the Ministry of Education, and embezzling NT$498,000 in test fees paid by subjects. However, the coercive crime and violation of the Physician Act involved in requiring players to draw blood under the threat of credits were considered insufficient and were not prosecuted.

National Taiwan Normal University responded that the funding flow and responsibility for the women's football case are still in the judicial process, and the school has cooperated with the investigation and provided relevant information. As for the examination fees, the school conducted a comprehensive investigation after the incident. In view of the past situations where students' examination fees were paid back as team fees, in order to protect the rights and interests of students, the school has done its best to raise funds in advance and return the examination fees to students.
