Political scientist Kamkin assessed Pashinyan’s actions towards Russia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is doing everything to nullify relations with Russia, said Alexander Kamkin, a senior researcher at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he named the condition for the transition of relations between Russia and Armenia to the category of unfriendly.

Earlier it was reported that the West demanded that Armenia introduce visas for Russian tourists. The West is making such a demand on Yerevan for the sake of visa-free travel with the European Union (EU). Armenia was promised that if this condition is met, the EU will be able to liberalize the visa regime with the country in a few years.

“Pashinyan is doing everything to completely reduce Russian-Armenian relations to zero: both the severance of economic ties and the threat of withdrawal from the CSTO and the EAEU,” Kamkin said.

According to the political scientist, if Pashinyan is not overthrown by patriotic citizens of Armenia, then the country may reach an unfriendly existence with Russia.

“If Pashinyan is not overthrown by patriotic Armenians, then it is quite possible that Armenia will reach such a level of unfriendly existence with Russia,” added Kamkin.
