Criminal complaint from French MP for Israeli commando serving in Gaza

In his statement on the social media platform of US-based company X, Portes said, "A former Israeli commando who participated in the genocide in Gaza is currently in France." he said.

Stating that the military unit led by the Israeli commando in question participated in attacks on hospitals and the destruction of mosques, schools and buildings in the region, Portes said, "The crimes it committed can be described as war, genocidal crimes and acts of torture." he said.

Portes stated that he filed a criminal complaint against the former commando with the public prosecutor's office, demanding an investigation to determine his responsibilities.

According to the statement made by the Brussels-based Hind Recep Foundation (HRF), the name of the Israeli commando about whom the French MP filed a criminal complaint is Elitzur Gitler.

Within the scope of the research conducted by the Hind Recep Foundation with the France-based Urgence Palestine (Urgent Palestine) association, it was documented that Gitler was involved in operations targeting civilians and protected infrastructures during the genocide in Gaza between November 2023 and April 2024.

The Hind Recep Foundation and the Urgence Palestine association demanded that a preliminary investigation be launched against Gitler and that measures be taken to prevent the suspect from returning to Israel.

"As long as these obstacles exist, France will continue to be a safe haven for genocidaires," said Natacha Bracq, Legal Director of the Hind Rajab Foundation. he said.

Bracq said it was unacceptable that people who voluntarily participated in documented atrocities could travel freely near Paris and attend sporting events in France simply because they had a valid passport or invitation.
