Taiwan’s mixed doubles Ye Hongwei/Zhan Youchen advanced to the Asian Games badminton mixed doubles semi-finals and won the bronze medal

[Special Correspondent Wu Mengru/Reporting from Nagoya] Taiwan's No. 1 mixed doubles pair Ye Hongwei/Zhan Youchen defeated Thailand's Ruttanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat 21:18, 21:14 in the quarterfinals of the badminton mixed doubles at the Nagoya Asian Games. They advanced to the top four and secured a bronze medal.

Ye Hongwei/Zhan Youchen, ranked 9th in the world, won this year's All England Open and set a record in Taiwan. This time they participated in the Asian Games for the first time together and passed all the way. Yesterday in the round of 16, they defeated the Japanese pair Yuichi Shigekami/Hobara Ayaka, ranked 16th in the world, in straight sets.

Since there is no bronze medal match in badminton, Ye Hongwei/Zhan Youzhen can stand on the podium as long as they advance to the top four. Today they faced the Thai combination ranked 22nd in the world. In the first game, they were able to grab key points in the final tug-of-war and won 21:18.

Entering the second game, Ye Hongwei/Zhan Youzhen scored 4 points in a row to widen the gap during the 6:6 tie. Afterwards, they maintained an advantage of at least 5 points and defeated the Thai combination in straight games to advance to the top four.
