Peskov: Putin and Pashinyan will discuss the topic of holding a referendum in Armenia in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will have the opportunity to discuss the topic of holding a referendum in Armenia at a meeting in Moscow, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier, Peskov told RIA Novosti that Pashinyan’s visit to Russia could take place in the near future, but the exact dates have not yet been determined.

“The heads of state will have the opportunity once again from all sides to discuss the main topic of our current bilateral relations. This topic is still the choice of the direction of development, the orientation of Armenia and the topic of holding a corresponding referendum,” Peskov told reporters.

Putin earlier held talks with Pashinyan on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek. During the meeting, the leaders discussed the need to organize a referendum in Armenia to close the topic of the republic’s membership in the EAEU or joining the European Union.
