The American delegation's gift to Vladimir Putin was interpreted as a signal for negotiations

The gift from the American delegation to Russian President Vladimir Putin indicates the White House's intention to negotiate with Moscow on the Ukrainian crisis. The meaning of the gift to the Russian leader was revealed by Americanist Malek Dudakov, his words are quoted by the newspaper Vzglyad.

US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff brought to Moscow a unique commemorative coin with the inscription: Peace through strength.

“In the American political lexicon, “Peace through strength” is the slogan of those figures who advocate greater realism in foreign policy and refusal to participate in endless wars,” Dudakov explained.

Thus, according to the political scientist, the gift from the American delegation to Putin may indicate the US’s readiness to negotiate with Moscow to de-escalate the Ukrainian crisis. However, Dudakov added, the European “war party” and Ukrainian lobbyists are “increasingly less willing to follow Trump’s agenda.”
