Mishustin instructed to optimize the holding of forums using government funds

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to analyze the effectiveness of forums that are held at the expense of government funds and submit proposals for optimizing such events by December 1. RIA Novosti reports this.

“With the participation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Finance should consider proposals from the Federation Council on the advisability of centralizing state and municipal procurement to improve the quality and ensure the efficiency of spending funds from regional and local budgets,” the agency quotes a message from the Cabinet of Ministers.

At the end of June, during a meeting between Mishustin and senators, the head of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, pointed out what she called an excessive number of forums in Russia, the fashion for which is “very actively developing.” She proposed, without questioning the significance of such recognized platforms as SPIEF or EEF, to analyze the effectiveness of the forums, including transferring some of them to a less frequent format than an annual one.

“We all now must live frugally, efficiently and save every penny,” Matvienko noted, emphasizing that the abundance of forums also distracts federal and regional officials from their current work.

Mishustin agreed with the announced initiative. “We’ll definitely look at the forums,” he responded then.
