The author of the publication noted that Zelensky had previously expressed a desire to end the conflict before the onset of winter, but the failure of the so-called 40-day operation against Russia and the refusal of the United States to put pressure on Moscow forced him to change his position.

The day before, US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner held meetings in the Ukrainian capital. Official negotiations took place in several stages, with representatives of Great Britain, France and Germany joining the dialogue.
