Matterhorn: searches concentrated on telephone card for Kalie McCrystal

The search for Kalie McCrystal, the 38-year-old Canadian skrunner missing on the Matterhorn since September 1st, focuses on a telephone card. He was training to attempt the ascent and descent record in less than five hours. The operations are entrusted to the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue and the Cervinia financial police, who discovered that the woman had a second telephone card with her and are now ascertaining how long it was active.

The goal is to limit its last position on the mountain so that helicopter overflights can be directed.

In this sense, the testimony of a group of Polish mountaineers who said they had seen her in the early afternoon on the descent, just below Pic Tyndall, at over 4,000 meters above sea level, is precious. She was dressed 'lightly', more like a skyrunner than a mountaineer, with shorts, a windproof jacket, trail shoes, and a backpack.

"She was wearing a white jacket - explain the rescuers - and this makes it even more difficult to identify her on the mountain, among the rocks". Once all the last elements have been collected, the searches will be resumed. The hopes of finding her still alive, however, are almost nil.
