When her husband suddenly passed away, his wife decided to donate his organs to continue his spirit of altruism

Malaysia Suppressing the grief when her husband suddenly passed away, Ms. Lin Wenyun decided to donate organ tissues, bringing a chance to life for many patients and continuing his spirit of altruism and helping people when he was still alive.

Mr. Junyuan, 45 years old, died on August 28, leaving behind his wife and three young children, including a 10-year-old son, a 7-year-old eldest daughter, and a 5-year-old youngest daughter. Before that, on the morning of August 24, he suddenly had a headache and then suffered a brain hemorrhage. A relative promptly discovered him and took him to the emergency room. Upon admission, the patient fell into a state of respiratory arrest, forcing doctors to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation due to lack of brain oxygen. After emergency treatment, his vital indicators were temporarily stable.

"After 72 hours of monitoring, re-test results showed that the hemorrhage had spread to the entire brain. The doctor also informed us that there was no hope of recovery and advised the family to prepare mentally," Ms. Wenyun recalled.

The patient then underwent two independent clinical assessments lasting 6 hours apart, directly performed by two specialists from the public hospital and the relevant health authority. Both tests concluded that he was in a state of brain death. Receiving information that her husband's internal organs were still in good condition, Ms. Wenyun discussed with relatives on both sides of the family and decided to donate her husband's corneas, heart valves, two kidneys, liver and lungs, while keeping the bones and skin.

She said she had never learned about organ donation before. This decision comes from the fact that when her husband was alive, he spent more than 3 years doing spiritual work at a local temple, not afraid to help people with big and small matters. She wants to continue that legacy on his behalf and give hope to patients who are struggling with the disease every day.

Ms. Wenyun said that according to the original plan, the whole family would go to Johor Bahru to cheer on her 10-year-old son competing in martial arts. During the days his father lay in a coma in the hospital bed, the boy continuously sent voice messages via phone hoping his voice could wake his father. Despite the incident, her family still encouraged her to continue participating in the tournament to fulfill her wish of winning a medal for her father. In the end, the boy excellently won 3 gold medals in the categories of Long Fist, Knife Technique, and Kun Technique and received the title of "Outstanding Athlete". At the funeral, I and my friends performed martial arts as a farewell to my late father.

Appreciating the noble gesture of Mr. Junyuan and his family, Malacca General Hospital organized a "Gratitude and Farewell Ceremony". Hospitals in Malacca and Kuala Lumpur also simultaneously performed a green light lighting ceremony at the central building, issuing announcements honoring the family's courage, altruism and noble humanistic spirit.
