Christian Dirschauer elected SSW top candidate for state election

The chairman of the SSW state parliamentary group, Christian Dirschauer, has been elected as his party's top candidate for next year's state elections. At a party conference in Flensburg, the 45-year-old received 100 of 105 valid votes, a good 95 percent. He was unanimously proposed by the state executive board.

The final list of the party of the Danish and Frisian minorities for the state elections (April 18, 2027) will be chosen at an extraordinary state party conference on December 5th.

The SSW state chairwoman Sybilla Nitsch previously called Dirschauer a focused and solution-oriented politician. He is a full-blooded minority politician and the right front figure for the upcoming state elections: “always focused on the issue, tough in negotiations, but always with heart, especially for the people who have the hardest time in our society.”

Dirschauer assured that he would “work for the citizens with all his strength, heart and soul.” With him at the helm, the SSW (South Schleswig Voters' Association) will be a strong voice for all people in Schleswig-Holstein who would otherwise not be heard.

Dirschauer: SSW will not make the country ungovernable

The SSW takes the concerns of the citizens of Schleswig-Holstein seriously and has a political offer to lead this country into a more social, Scandinavian and greener future, said Dirschauer. But this will only work if the SSW returns to the state parliament as strongly as possible.

According to Dirschauer, the SSW's clear goal is to be represented in the state parliament again at least in parliamentary group size. In the 2022 election, the minority party received 5.7 percent of the second votes. The party, which was exempt from the five percent hurdle, achieved its best result to date in 1950 with 5.5 percent.

It is not an absolute goal to move into a state government, said Dirschauer. “The SSW has shown in its long history that we can achieve a lot for people with constructive opposition.” However, the 45-year-old assured that he would not make the country ungovernable. What is crucial is how the goals of the SSW can best be implemented. You go into the election without a coalition statement and talk to all democratic parties.

Key points for the future stability of the country were decided

In addition, the party conference passed a motion for a resolution with “key points to make Schleswig-Holstein future-proof”. Accordingly, they want to adopt more pragmatic and ideology-free solutions from Scandinavia, for example in the areas of education, child care and digitalization. In addition, medium-sized businesses should be promoted instead of prestige projects and regional added value should be generated. Massive investments should also be made in infrastructure and the modernization of public administration.
