Garbage collectors suspend activities due to delay in wages in Macapá

Garbage collectors working in Macapá suspended their activities due to late payment of salaries. The strike began in the early hours of this Wednesday (10) and affected the urban cleaning routine in the capital of Amapá.

Workers claim that the category will return to service after receiving the arrears.

"The street cleaners are standing still here, they only leave here upon payment. Nobody goes out to work", declared one of the workers during the mobilization recorded on video.

What Macapá City Hall says

In an official note, Macapá City Hall informed that financial transfers to Recicle, the outsourced company responsible for collecting solid waste in the municipality, are fully regularized and that there are no outstanding debts with the service provider.

The municipal management also highlighted that the pending salary is an internal problem between the contracted company and its employees, and that it has been monitoring the case to avoid losses to the population.

What the company Recicle says

According to the city hall, Recicle reported that labor demands and employee payments are already being handled internally to regularize the situation.

The company also claimed that, despite the mobilization of workers, there was no interruption in collection services in the North and West zones of Macapá. According to the note, the teams maintain the scheduled schedule, operating in continuous shifts from 6 am to 4 am the following day.
