Caixa Econômica Federal employees go on strike in Rondônia

Caixa Econômica Federal branches in Rondônia went on indefinite strike this Thursday (10). The strike follows a national movement in the category, and the main demand is for improvements in the workers' health plan.

Of the state's 34 agencies, 33 are closed, according to the Union of Bank Workers and Financial Workers of Rondônia (Seeb-RO).

According to president of Seeb-RO, Ivone Colombo, for more than two months the union movement has been trying to negotiate improvements for the category with the bank, but the main reason for the strike was the lack of progress in negotiations to improve the bank's health plan.

"Bank workers have a lot of health problems, due to the lack of employees, excess services. So, they [employees] use the plan a lot. Caixa's health plan, today, has no conditions due to the high amount charged by each bank employee and their dependents", he highlighted.

According to Ivone, the union's assessment is that the strike could have been avoided if there had been openness to negotiation on this point.

Previously, on August 20, bank employees had already carried out a warning strike, involving private and public banks. As there was no progress in the negotiations, the Caixa category decided to paralyze activities and go on strike.

At the last meeting, held this Wednesday (9), there was no progress in the negotiations. A new meeting with Caixa's national presidency is scheduled for this Thursday morning (10).

Caixa Econômica Federal reported that it maintains an open dialogue with the entities representing employees and that it has resumed negotiations with the aim of reaching an understanding that takes into account the interests of the parties.

The bank stated that customers can normally use digital and remote channels, such as the CAIXA App, Internet Banking, WhatsApp CAIXA, CAIXA Tem and telephone support. ATMs, the Banco24Horas network, lottery outlets and CAIXA Aqui Correspondents are also available.
