Sentenced to 22 and 17 years for murder of transporter in Prato

Two Pakistanis convicted in Florence for the murder in 2024 of the transporter and former president of the Indian temple of Novellara, Harpal Singh, stabbed to death by individuals who had had a working relationship with him. The sentence was read in the court of assizes. The murder took place in Seano (Prato) on 9 February two years ago. The defendants Mohammad Sufuyan, who got 22 years old, and Muhammad Chand, who got 17 years old, were also convicted on charges of theft, 4,000 euros and the cell phone stolen from Singh likely the motive for the murder. The court recognized the aggravating circumstance of frivolous motives.

The victim organized transport of textile products abroad for Chinese companies in the Prato district. The murder took place in the square of a company in Seano, near Prato.

The cameras of an adjacent company, the statements of the victim's son and stories from other people allowed the two defendants to be identified. Intercepts were activated which also allowed us to hear about their desire to flee to Portugal. They were then found on a train to Turin, the city where the arrest decree issued by the Prato prosecutor's office was executed, later validated. The two have been in prison ever since.
