Former Kirchnerist officials convicted of fraud in the Sueños Compartidos program

Three former officials of the governments of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner have been convicted in Argentina for the fraudulent management of public funds intended for the "Sueños Compartidos" public housing program, promoted by the Madres de Plaza de Mayo Foundation. This was reported by the Argentine newspaper La Nación. The federal court of Buenos Aires imposed 2 years and 9 months on the former secretary of Public Works José López and the former undersecretary Abel Fatala, 2 years and 8 months on Sergio Schoklender and 2 years and 4 months on his brother Pablo. All sentences were given suspended sentences.

However, former Planning Minister Julio De Vido, also a leading figure in the Kirchner governments, was acquitted. The court also ordered the seizure of approximately 206 million pesos, equal to over 118 thousand euros. The program involved the construction of social housing with state funds entrusted to the Madres de Plaza de Mayo Foundation. The trial concerned irregularities in the management and use of public resources.
