Costa Rica: President Laura Fernández on an official visit to the Vatican

The President of Costa Rica, Laura Fernández Delgado, will make an official visit to the Vatican, where she will be received in a private audience by Pope Leo XIV: this was announced by the Presidency of the Costa Rican Republic.

The announcement was made through an official note in which the government underlined the importance of the meeting for Costa Rica's relations with the Holy See and for Costa Rican families of the Catholic faith.

The meeting between the president and the pontiff will take place as part of an international trip which also includes participation in the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in Madrid. Although the Presidency confirmed that the audience will be private, it did not specify the exact date of the meeting with Leo XIV nor the specific topics on the agenda.

In the note, Fernández expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to personally meet with the head of the Catholic Church.

"I will present myself to the Holy Father with great emotion and humility, carrying in my heart Costa Rica and every family that finds in God the strength to get up, to fight and to move forward", stated the president.
