Why It Matters
President Erdoğan opened the Şanlıurfa City Hospital and announced various infrastructure projects.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Şanlıurfa City Hospital Opening Ceremony. Erdoğan, who started his speech by greeting those in the field, stated that he was fortunate to be in Şanlıurfa, which lives up to its name with its fame, splendor and civilizational heritage, after an interval of approximately 2 years.
Stating that they experienced a different excitement with the youth of TEKNOFEST before the opening, President Erdoğan said, "Now we are with my brothers from Şanlıurfa. Şanlıurfa did not spare its legendary, sincere hospitality from us today. Şanlıurfa embraced us with love again today. It showed its loyalty to the covenant. As always, it embraced us with longing. I express my gratitude for your love, affection and blessings." he said.
Erdoğan stated that they miss Şanlıurfa and the people of Şanlıurfa and continued as follows:
"Today, I saw that the people of Şanlıurfa also missed us. The late poet Halide Nusret Hanım actually translated our feelings in this poem in which she describes her longing for Şanlıurfa. 'Your dream is in my heart in pieces every moment. Castle, Aynizeliha, Dergah, Halilürrahman. A different beauty in every corner, elvan elvan. Every corner of you is a different heaven, soul Urfa, homeland Urfa. You, blessed one. You are the soil, the bed of saints, I have no words for those who do not hear, you are the shelter of brave men and maned lions, Urfa of the hero, Urfa of the soul, Urfa of the homeland. May God always bless Şanlıurfa. May the solidarity between us perpetuate.”
“We are trying to protect Urfa in the best possible way”
President Erdoğan said that Şanlıurfa showed the whole world how it will stand up when its independence and future are challenged, and said, "This city is a city that has earned the title of 'Glorious' through its struggle. We are trying to protect Urfa, which has an exceptional place in our history and in our hearts, in the best way possible." he said.
Stating that they consider the trust they have placed with honor and dignity with the support and blessings they received from the people of Şanlıurfa and that they have not let that trust fall to the ground, Erdoğan said that they are trying to pay their debt of gratitude to Şanlıurfa by building new works.
President Erdoğan said:
"Because we do not get our power from the West, where some people constantly write letters of complaint, but only from our nation, from you. We are in these positions to serve you. If you are there, we are too. As long as your support and prayers are with us, we will continue to do justice to this. As long as you stand by our side like a mountain, hopefully we will continue to say 'don't stop, continue to serve'. As we come to Şanlıurfa today, we have our hands full again. We are here. We are introducing our city hospitals project, which I call 'my dream' in health and which I have always been honored to bring to our country. You see this magnificent work, once we have done it, we can do it like this.
This is how we build the work that Şanlıurfa deserves. Today, we are putting our Şanlıurfa City Hospital, which will move to the next level in healthcare, to your service. Our city hospital has become a work worthy of the glory of our Urfa, with a closed area of 500 thousand square meters, a capacity of 2 thousand beds, 545 of which are intensive care units, 451 polyclinic rooms, 6 operating rooms, a parking lot for 3 thousand 620 vehicles and other outbuildings. I believe that this magnificent investment, worth a total of 39 billion lira, will bring our city's health care standard to the top. Of course, when you build such a hospital, the transportation problem also needs to be solved. "We are also putting into service the 1.7-kilometer-long connection road and the 191-meter-long bridge that we built for easy access to our hospital."
“So far, we have invested 61 billion liras in health in Şanlıurfa”
Erdoğan congratulated all the institutions, organizations and companies that contributed to the construction of the city hospital in Şanlıurfa, and especially congratulated the engineers, technicians and workers who contributed to the construction of this work.
Reminding that Şanlıurfa City Hospital is the latest health investment in Şanlıurfa, President Erdoğan said, "We have invested 61 billion liras in health in Şanlıurfa so far. We have built 129 health facilities, including 19 hospitals with 3,970 beds, including our city hospital. Our total investment of 8.5 billion liras continues. Harran State Hospital with 100 beds, 100 beds, "The construction of 16 health facilities, including the 200-bed Siverek Maternity and Children's Hospital, and the 200-bed Annex Building of Viranşehir State Hospital, is ongoing. We also have 17 health facilities at the tender, project and land stage. Hopefully, we will complete them and make them available to the people of Urfa." he said.
Erdoğan said that today, in addition to the city hospital and connection roads, they will open the 2.5-kilometer-long Azerbaijan Boulevard Different Level Intersection, and said, "I wish this intersection worth 1.3 billion liras, which will relieve the increased traffic due to TOKİ residences in our Karaköprü district, to be beneficial. I congratulate our ministry and contractor companies who contributed to the construction of the intersection." he said.
Stating that they have invested 1 trillion 530 billion lira in Şanlıurfa since they took office, Erdoğan said, "No talk, we did business." he said.
Stating that the total investments in the field of transportation alone are over 91 billion liras and that they increased the distance of the divided road from 28 kilometers to 630 kilometers, Erdoğan stated that they have completed many projects such as the Nissibi Bridge, Şanlıurfa-Birecik Highway, Şanlıurfa-Diyarbakır road, Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir road and put them at the service of the people of Şanlıurfa.
Stating that they will build a new 320-kilometer-long highway between Şanlıurfa and Ovaköy within the scope of the Development Road Project, Erdoğan said, "The projects of Şanlıurfa-Gaziantep high-speed train line and Şanlıurfa-Mardin high-speed train line have been completed. We have included it in our investment program. Hopefully, we plan to go out to tender as soon as possible." he said.
Noting that they have placed many works and projects at the disposal of the people of Şanlıurfa, Erdoğan said that they have brought Şanlıurfa to a very different point not only in health and transportation but also in agriculture, tourism, education and other fields.
“There have been no lamentations in homes for two years.”
Pointing out that security was a serious problem for a while, Erdoğan said, "Thank God, we have solved that too. As we progress in our terrorism-free Turkey process, our cities are developing, our plateaus, plains and mountains are becoming more cheerful, and mothers' hearts are no longer in their mouths every time the phone rings. Praise be to God. There has been no lamentation in the homes for two years." he said.
Erdoğan continued his speech by stating that a very different wind has begun to blow not only in Şanlıurfa and its surroundings, but also outside the borders:
"In our neighbor Syria, the cruel regime that had the blood of 1 million people on its hands was overthrown, and was replaced by a government that is a very close friend of Türkiye. Now, with the integration process, the terrorism problem there is being solved. Likewise, in Iraq, a security environment is being re-established in places where there has been insecurity for years. As Turks, Kurds and Arabs, we are united, shoulder to shoulder, just like the army of Saladin, the beloved sultan of the East, who saved Jerusalem from the Crusaders exactly 838 years ago." We are all united under the banner of brotherhood. Hopefully, we will see much better days together. We will reach those days when peace replaces terrorism, prosperity replaces instability, and peace replaces conflict. No one will be able to prevent this from happening. No one will be able to stop peace, peace and economic development from prevailing in our region, from Iraq to Syria, from Iran to Lebanon. We are determined and we will lead our country and our region to the prosperous future they deserve, together with you."
“We have always appeared before you with our works and deeds.”
Noting that they will celebrate the 24th anniversary of their coming to power in a month, Erdoğan said, "After 24 years, you always supported us. We ran for you day and night. Just like here, we always appeared before you with our works and deeds. Look, we always talk about what we have done and what we will do." he said.
"So, in what language and in what style do the others speak?" Erdoğan continued his speech as follows:
"What are they talking about when they take the microphone? What have they done for Turkey so far, what have they brought to this country? What have they done other than complaining about Türkiye abroad? What have they done other than trying to block our city hospitals? What have they done other than sitting in Ankara and standing against every work we produce? Now, I specifically request this from my citizens from Urfa. My brother from Şanlıurfa should put his hand on his conscience and answer. If it was not us who were in power for 24 years, but those who immorally attack us today, would all these services be provided? If we were not in power, if there was no People's Alliance, would these works be built? For God's sake, would the roads connecting Urfa to Türkiye and the Middle East be built? Would the products exhibited in TEKNOFEST Southeast be made?
Brothers and sisters, we all know very well that none of this would have happened or been done. In fact, Türkiye would be in an even worse situation than before because of their incompetence and lack of vision. You have been following it for months. A lot of their filth has been exposed, a lot of their corruption, theft and shamelessness have been exposed. It has been revealed how they turned the municipalities, which were entrusted to the nation, into a wasteland. What did they do? They shamelessly defended all kinds of immorality. They traveled from city to city, from square to square, defending bribery, extortion and favoritism. "They tried to exonerate the robbers who took bribes from baklava boxes by saying 'There is stain in milk, but there is no stain in our friends'."
Regarding the fund investigation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "Our first priority is to ensure that no harm comes to the Turkish economy. Our second priority is to ensure that whoever has gained unfair advantage should be held accountable for it." he said.
Stating that a problem arose in a certain area of the fund market in September, Erdoğan said:
"What did we do? We gathered our boards. We immediately determined our road map. Our first priority here is to ensure that no harm comes to the Turkish economy. Our second priority is to ensure that whoever has gained unjust profits should be held accountable for this. We are taking all kinds of steps with our State Supervision Board, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Treasury and Finance and other institutions. Our Fund Coordination Board manages the process in the same way. We are working to solve the problem quickly on the basis of justice and equity, without compromising anyone's rights to anyone else. Our citizens May peace be upon them. Turkish economy is capable of overcoming this problem. Turkish capital markets will continue on their way even more strongly. The ambitions of those who sabotage Türkiye's economic security in order to cover up their own mess will remain in our hands. Our nation should trust us and believe in us. We will never allow injustice, unlawfulness and greed to be done by those who seize the nation's property, whether in municipalities or in the capital markets. "We will not tolerate it. We are doing whatever is necessary, we will do it."
