Inner Mongolia winter tourism activities launched in Genhe City, "China's Cold Pole"

China News Service, Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, November 7 (Reporter Zhang Wei) The "Happy Ice and Snow Season, Song Tour in Inner Mongolia" 2026-2027 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region winter tourism activity was launched in Hulunbeir Genhe City on the 7th. More than 300 winter-specific ice and snow activities have been launched.

At the beginning of winter, the forest is covered with snow. On that day, the lowest temperature in Genhe City, known as the "Cold Pole of China", dropped to -33°C. At the Aoluguya Shilu Tribe, tourists watched a live performance of the Shilu Tribe’s migration, checked in at the “Coldest Post Office in China”, wore Ewenki costumes and took photos in the forest and snowfields, immersing themselves in the winter vitality brought by the ice and snow fairy tale world.

National costume designer Jin Jingyi brought back 20 sets of Ewenki costumes that had appeared in Beijing Fashion Week back to her hometown for tourists to wear and take pictures. "I bring national culture out of the mountains and onto the international stage, and I also hope that tourists can truly feel its charm in the place where it grows."

Li Youran, a tourist from Beijing, took a fancy to the "White Deer Fairy" series of clothing and immediately placed an order. “Walking in the forest covered with rime and ice hanging in the traditional costumes of the Ewenki people, it feels like I have traveled through time.”

The 2026 China Cold Pole Half Marathon started on the same day. More than 600 runners walked through forests and snowfields, passed by wetlands and rivers, and ran in the biting cold wind.

Chen Mingxin, a contestant from Fujian, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Service after the race: "The Cold Pole Marathon allowed us to appreciate the vastness and splendor of the Greater Khingan Mountains in winter during our run, and also experience the charm of local ice and snow sports."

At the event site, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region issued cultural tourism consumption coupons totaling 5 million yuan to benefit the people, and released 338 special winter ice and snow activities such as Happy Ice and Snow Season, Ice and Snow Naadam, China Cold Pole Marathon, and Winter in the Greater Khingan Mountains, and launched 36 high-quality winter tourism routes. The event is expected to last until early March 2027.
