Brief retelling from RIA II

Residents of the Tomsk region began to report the appearance of bears near their homes 10–15 times a day.

The Department of Hunting and Fisheries of the region makes a decision to regulate the number of bears after confirming information about their appearance near housing.

In 2026, 120 decisions were made to regulate the number of bears, and about 50 of them have already been implemented.

NOVOSIBIRSK, September 17 – RIA Novosti. Residents of the Tomsk region began to report the appearance of bears near their homes 10-15 times a day, Andrei Kolomin, head of the region’s hunting and fishing department, told RIA Novosti.

“The situation is very tense... We have 10-15 calls a day from different areas. This year the situation is much more complicated (than last - ed.). In May-June there were isolated calls about bear sightings, and since July, when the heat began, there were frequent fires, including in the neighboring Krasnoyarsk Territory, there was a drought for a long time, (the increase began - ed.)," the agency's interlocutor said.

As soon as information about the appearance of a bear near housing is confirmed, the department makes a decision to regulate the number of the animal - to eliminate it.

“In my opinion, last year 30 (decisions on population regulation - ed.) were made, five were regulated (executed - ed.). This year 120 were adopted, about 50 were regulated, and I think this figure will continue to grow,” said the head of the department.
