DeepSeek, known for its affordable services in the artificial intelligence world, is going through a price update that will upset its users. The company announced that it will make a significant increase in API usage fees with its new model.

With the announcement of the DeepSeek V4 Pro model, the company decided to quadruple API pricing. It is stated that this change was made in order to manage resources more efficiently.

New Pricing and Details

According to the new tariff, which will be valid as of August 16, the fee to be paid per 1 million exit tokens for the DeepSeek V4 Pro model increases to $ 3.96 during peak hours. This fee, which is currently $ 0.87, will be applied as $ 1.98 during off-peak hours.

A similar increase will also apply to the DeepSeek V4 Flash model. The fee per 1 million exit tokens of this model will increase from $0.28 to $1.32 during peak hours. During off-peak hours, users will pay $0.66.

The current discounted prices were originally scheduled to end on May 31. Although the company announced at that time that it would make the discounts permanent, the final decision was to increase the prices.

Competitive Position and Market Situation

Despite quadrupling its prices, DeepSeek still offers affordable options compared to its competitors. For example, Moonshot company's Kimi K3 model has a cost of $15 per 1 million exit tokens.

On the OpenAI side, GPT-5.6 Sol, the most advanced model, demands $ 30 for 1 million exit tokens. However, OpenAI's more economical option, GPT-5.6 Luna, is a more affordable alternative to DeepSeek V4 Flash during peak hours with its price of $ 1.20.
