TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland Opened Its Doors in Kocaeli

Under the main execution of the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) and the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), the festival organized in partnership with TRT’s communication stakeholders brings together technology and defense industry enthusiasts in Kocaeli.

37 Naval Assets Opened Their Doors

In the festival area, which features 37 different naval assets and sea platforms symbolizing Turkey’s dominance at sea, the world’s first drone ship TCG Anadolu, along with locally and nationally produced vessels such as TCG İstanbul, TCG Derya, TCG Barbaros, and TCG Sancaktar, attract great interest from visitors.

Visitors also have the opportunity to see up close the historic TCG Yavuz, which has been granted museum ship status after restoration work, as well as the memorial TCG Savarona of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The cabins in TCG Savarona where Atatürk personally used items are displayed, evoking emotional moments for participants.

HALUK GÖRGÜN: MORE THAN 40 NATIONAL PLATFORMS ARE BEING PRODUCED

Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün, in a statement to TRT Haber during the festival, emphasized Turkey’s success in its military shipbuilding capacity.

Görgün said, “The Blue Homeland has a very strong meaning. Turkey is the country with the strongest navy both in the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. Over 40 domestic and national large platforms are being produced in our shipyards. The average age in our defense industry is 34; with this youthful dynamism we reinforce our independence at sea.”

Görgün also noted that production of six prototypes in the National Combat Aircraft KAAN project is ongoing and that land tests are continuing without interruption.

ACTION AND TECHNOLOGY TOGETHER

On the second day of the festival, operational drills carried out by the Underwater Attack (SAT) and Underwater Defense (SAS) commandos provided audiences with exciting moments. The program also includes many events such as sea vehicle races, underwater system competitions, rope pulling, dragon rowing, and underwater rocket competitions.

FREE SHIP TRIPS FOR TRANSPORTATION

To counter possible traffic congestion due to high interest, free ship trips are organized on the Izmit, Tütünçiftlik, Derince, and Gölcük routes. TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan, which attracts citizens from 7 to 70 years old, will continue its events with a Sefo concert scheduled for the evening.

The festival continues to reinforce Turkey’s “Blue Homeland” vision by showcasing the power of domestic and national technologies at sea.
