Independence Day civic-military parade begins in Brasília with the presence of Lula and authorities

The Independence Day civic-military parade began shortly after 9 am this Monday (7), on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in the center of Brasília.

After the performance of the National Anthem, Major General João Felipe Dias Alves requested authorization to start the event.

The tribune of authorities includes President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta, the President of the Federal Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, and the President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Edson Fachin.

Also following the parade, positioned in the tribune, are ministers from different portfolios, including Leonardo Barchini, from Education; Gustavo Feliciano, from Tourism; Márcia Lopes, from Women; Wolney Queiroz, from Social Security, and Dario Durigan, from Finance, as well as the attorney general of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias.

For this year, the federal government defined three thematic axes for the parade: national sovereignty, a recurring issue after the tariffs applied to Brazilian products; combating violence against women, with emphasis on a national pact launched by the Three Powers in February; and the 2027 Women's World Cup.

The public began arriving at the site before 6:30 am, amid preparations and rehearsals by parade participants. The covered stands were already full minutes before the event started.

The mild weather in the federal capital, with very cloudy skies, helps those who follow the presentations close to the security bars.

The civic-military parade is scheduled to end at 11am.
