A Spanish woman arrested in Ceuta for the alleged death of her Moroccan cousin

Narrow streets and worn-out, squat buildings make up the neighborhood of Poblado de Regulares (Ceuta), where the National Police arrested this Thursday a woman of Spanish nationality as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a Moroccan man who was in her home and who was the cousin of the alleged aggressor.

According to police sources, the woman allegedly used a knife to end the life of the immigrant, who was residing in the house, after having an argument.

The first data indicate that the deceased is a Moroccan man between 30 and 35 years old, although it has not yet been clarified whether he is one of the people who entered Ceuta illegally at the end of July. "I only know that I don't want to know anything anymore. I'm tired, you know? These days all I hear is screams. I take my medication at night and I don't want to know more," the detainee's neighbor reluctantly comments.

The house is a ground floor whose entrance is located in an alley in the heart of the neighborhood. After collecting testimony from nearby residents, the National Police has been able to determine that the victim is the woman's cousin. The situation of the deceased is being investigated, as he lacked documentation to be legally in the national territory.

Young Moroccan immigrants wander aimlessly through the streets of this humble neighborhood that has been "invaded." "This neighborhood is already dead," says one of the neighbors next to a facility that provides help to immigrant women. From the other side of the slope that divides the area, a Ceuta neighbor explained that at the moment the event occurred, the screams could be heard, "knife, knife!". "It woke us up. Things are already happening and we are still afraid," he confesses.

As soon as the event occurred, around 7:00 a.m., Scientific Police officers went to the house and were looking for the murder weapon. The judge on duty has also appeared.

The man would have gone to his relatives' home and, for reasons that are still being investigated, a dispute would have occurred with his cousin. The woman allegedly used a knife during the confrontation, causing injuries that ultimately caused her death. "She was not well, they say the brother is problematic," says another neighbor at the gates of the neighborhood who says he knows the family.
