Our Lady of Aparecida Day: see the schedule of masses at the patron saint's sanctuary in Divinópolis

Celebrations commemorating the Day of Our Lady of Aparecida, patron saint of Brazil, begin at midnight on Monday (12). In Divinópolis, processions and masses take place throughout the day at the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, which is located in the Bom Pastor neighborhood. See the complete schedule below.

According to the Diocese of Divinópolis, the date is linked to the history of the image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição found by fishermen in the Paraíba do Sul River, in 1717, and was made official by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) in 1953.

Day of Our Lady of Aparecida

October 12

00:00: Eucharistic celebration presided over by Monsignor Pedro Gondim (Santuário Nossa Senhora Aparecida, Divinópolis).

4:45 am: Festive Dawn with Bell Ringing.

5am: Eucharistic celebration with blessing for the pilgrims presided over by Father Luís Fernando Alves Cruz (Santuário Nossa Senhora Aparecida, Divinópolis).

After the 5am mass, a motorcade in honor of Our Lady of Aparecida, traveling along Rua Iguatama, Avenida JK, Avenida 1º de Junho, Rua Espírito Santo, Avenida Antônio Olímpio de Morais, Rua São Sebastião, Rua Fortaleza, Avenida Rio Grande do Sul, Rua Itamarandiba, Rua Olinda and returning to Rua Iguatama.

7am: Eucharistic celebration of Dawn with a special blessing for Brazil presided over by Father Marcelo Henrique (Paróquia Catedral do Divino Espírito Santo, Divinópolis).

10am: Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Bishop Dom Geovane Luís da Silva, concelebrated by the parish priests and invited priests.

11:45 am: Consecration to Our Lady of Aparecida using the Method of Saint Louis de Montfort, for those who prepare in advance.

12pm: 'The hands point to infinity', presided over by Father Vítor Coelho de Almeida. Consecration to Our Lady of Aparecida under the prayer of the Patroness of Brazil. Festive peal of bells. Inside the Sanctuary, prayer of the Angelus and recitation of the Holy Rosary with the participation of the Rosary of Men.

1pm: Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Father Ronivon Plotácio Amorim (Paróquia Sant’Ana, Itaúna).

3pm: Eucharistic celebration with special blessing for the sick and elderly presided over by Father Marcelo Francisco da Silva (Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Guia, Divinópolis).

5:30 pm: Eucharistic Celebration of the Closing of the Feast of the Patron Saint presided over by the Priests of the Sanctuary and concelebrated by all the priests present.

6:30 pm: Bright procession with the Venerable Image of Our Lady of Conceição Aparecida, excellent Queen and Patroness of Brazil. Leaving Iguatama Street, Olinda Street, Ilinga Street, Pratápolis Street and returning to the Sanctuary. Bring your candle to be blessed and illuminate the procession of our Patron Saint.
