We touched the untouched problem

Davut Menteş, Chairman of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK), pointed out that the fight against structures that exploit the difficult situation of citizens after traffic accidents and turn it into a field of profit will continue uninterruptedly.

Answering the questions of journalists within the scope of the 2nd General Assembly of the Turkish World Insurance Association and saying "We have touched an untouched problem" regarding the damage processes, Menteş first reminded the relevant law and said: "There is no such thing as an intermediary in damage. There is only a power of attorney and that is a lawyer. There are things that amount to fraud. There are organized structures that have increased especially since 2019. We intervene in these. If 250 lawsuits are filed every day regarding loss of value, this is an anomaly. "The legal struggle process has begun. There are other structures, they will also be intervened. The first results are positive. With the other steps we took, daily applications to the Insurance Arbitration Commission decreased by half in October." Menteş's other prominent statements are as follows:

'CONTROLLED FREE'

- Insurance is an industry based on reputation. Because we collect money in trust. Therefore, when examining the sales processes of companies, we look at the financial structure and reputation of the new investor. We take into consideration the associated risks.

- We want free tariffs in traffic, but competition must be better. The share of the top 25 companies in the damage was around 80 percent, now it has dropped to 60 percent. There is also an improvement in discounts. For this reason, we think that a controlled free tariff can be implemented.

- Developments following the "lifetime renewal" regulation regarding health are positive. But we must mitigate the damage. But this is not a one-sided issue. It has hospital size. We are discussing these with the Ministry of Health
