The company received certification to work with the markets of Japan, Brazil, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and South Korea and expanded its export geography.

The company produces 3.5 tons of marine collagen per month, most of the production volume is reserved for the Russian market.

MURMANSK, September 9 - RIA Novosti. Japan, Brazil, South Korea, the UAE and other countries in Asia and the Persian Gulf are interested in purchasing Murmansk collagen, which is produced in the Arctic capital from Atlantic cod, Marta Govor, Minister of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of the Murmansk Region, told RIA Novosti.

The biotechnology company, founded in Murmansk in 2020, is the first Russian manufacturer of low-molecular collagen from Atlantic cod.

“Since this year, the company has expanded its export geography and received certification to work with the markets of Japan, Brazil, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and South Korea. For example, Japan is interested in this northern product because it can be used to produce famous Japanese cosmetics,” Govor said.

As the minister emphasized, Atlantic cod, from the skin of which collagen is produced, is one of the most environmentally friendly. In addition, cod fish from the northern seas contain large amounts of this valuable protein.

“Murmansk collagen is made from wild Atlantic cod, which lives only in the cold and clean waters of the North Atlantic and is obtained exclusively through wild catch. For industrial production, such raw materials are not available in all regions of the world,” Elena Kozyreva, commercial director of RMM Bioinnovations, explained to RIA Novosti.

The company produces 3.5 tons of marine collagen per month. Only Atlantic cod is used as raw material.

“In total, up to two tons of products per month are allocated for export,” the company noted and added that most of the production volume is reserved for the Russian market.
