The new central post at Zuoying Naval Base was opened today and the old post will be decommissioned

In cooperation with the Kaohsiung New Taiwan Route 17 project, the Navy has freed up part of the space on the east side of Zuoying Base for corridors. The Zhongzheng Post of Zuoying Naval Base, which has a history of at least 75 years, has been moved to the west. The "New Portal" built with the assistance of the Kaohsiung City Government has been completed and is scheduled to be moved today.

The Zhongzheng Gate Post of the Naval Zuoying Base, also known as the Zhongzheng Gate Post, is one of the main gates of the Zuoying Military Region. The government moved the Navy Headquarters to Zuoying in 1949. The Zhongzheng Gate Post was established around 1950 and was named because the road that runs through the post is Zhongzheng Road in the military region. The early gates were made of iron, wood and stone with a traditional archway style, and were later renovated into a white, modern and majestic appearance.

The exact location of the Zhongzheng Post is at the intersection of Zhongzheng and Jieshou intersections in Zuoying, close to the bus station, Haiqing Industrial and Commercial and Yongqing Elementary School. It is a familiar landmark to military officers and soldiers and local residents. In its heyday, a large number of officers, soldiers, family members and students came in and out every day. It is a common memory for many retired navy officers and soldiers and the Zuoying Military Village.

In cooperation with the new Taiwan 17th Route project, the Navy gave up part of the space on the east side of the base for a corridor. The Central Post on the new Taiwan 17th Route was also moved westward, and the Gao City Public Works Bureau assisted in building a new base portal. People passing by the intersection recently noticed that the new Central Post was almost completed, and described the new portal as looking like a wave, very majestic, and matching the navy.

The New Work Office of the Gao City Public Works Bureau stated that the new Zhongzheng Post is scheduled to be opened today (September 30). After the military moves to the new post, the old Zhongzheng Post will be handed over to the city government and incorporated into the new Taiwan 17th Line-related projects. It also announced that the old Zhongzheng Post, which served as the gateway to the Zuoying Navy for more than a decade, was officially decommissioned.
