Direct flight from Shenzhen to Brunei officially launched

China News Service, Shenzhen, September 29 (Suo Youwei, Zeng Hui) Under the efficient guarantee of the Shenzhen Airport Immigration Inspection Station, more than 150 passengers successfully completed the exit procedures on the afternoon of the 29th and took Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH171 to Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. This marks the official opening of the "air channel" direct from Shenzhen to Brunei, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's aviation network layout for ASEAN member states and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) member economies has been further improved.

It is reported that this route is the second Southeast Asian international passenger route newly opened by Shenzhen Airport this year. It is also the first regular passenger route in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area operated by a Chinese airline to fly directly to Brunei. It is planned to operate four flights per week in the initial stage, which will provide a more convenient travel option for people from the two countries for business exchanges, sightseeing, and visiting relatives and friends. So far, Shenzhen Airport has opened direct passenger routes with 10 countries (regions) among ASEAN member countries and 16 countries (regions) among APEC member economies.

In order to ensure the smooth opening of the first flight, the Shenzhen Airport Immigration Inspection Station adheres to the "one machine, one policy", communicates closely with the airport and relevant airlines, dynamically grasps flight information, formulates special inspection plans, implements personnel zoning inspection mode at the duty site, and opens sufficient inspection channels in advance during peak hours to reduce passenger clearance time and improve port customs clearance efficiency.

"As of September 28, this year, we have inspected a total of 324,000 people from ASEAN member countries and 547,000 foreigners from APEC member economies, a year-on-year increase of 41% and 30% respectively. Both data have reached a record high." Shenzhen Airport Liang Rui, director of the Border Inspection Department at the inspection station, said, "With the opening of this route, Shenzhen's connectivity with ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region will further heat up. We will continue to improve customs clearance services, optimize the customs clearance environment, and contribute border inspection capabilities to the high-level openness and high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area."
