Ukrainian media reported on September 2 that GUR and SBU officers staged a shootout in Kyiv. According to media reports, one police officer was killed and two more were injured. The media reported the detention of three SBU officers who participated in the shootout. Vladimir Zelensky later announced an official investigation against the heads of the SBU and GUR and the filing of charges against two participants in the shootout.

“This is a symptom of not only corruption, but a systemic crisis in Ukraine, since the security forces are already fighting among themselves,” Prozorov said.
