Wang Jiansheng, a candidate for the fifth-mile mayor in Neihu District, North City, was a former assistant to a member of the Blue, Green and White parties. He was sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison for intending to sexually assault his colleague's girlfriend in 2021. He has now completed his imprisonment. In this regard, Taipei City Councilor Chen Youcheng of the People's Party today (5th) believed that rehabilitated people who have paid the price should be given a chance to return to society. In response, Wu Xindai, candidate for Taiwan Jijin City Council in the second district of Taipei City (Neihu, Nangang), said that this decision fully demonstrated the nature of the "People's Party" becoming a "people's hall", and the party's tolerance for crime is extremely low. Regarding Chen Youcheng's attempt to use "why not give rehabilitated people a chance" as a defense reason, Wu Xindai criticized this. This is simply using rehabilitated people as a shield to confuse the public. Of course, rehabilitated people have the qualifications and rights to return to society and find ordinary jobs, but political jobs such as district chiefs and local assistants are completely different from ordinary professional status. These public officials hold public power, and their business scope must frequently contact the elderly living alone, single women, and disadvantaged families. They even need to go deep into people's homes to handle emergency relief, social welfare referrals, material distribution, and disaster prevention liaison.

Wu Xindai emphasized that this is a position that must be built on a high level of trust. Faced with such a public role, residents absolutely have the right to know and obtain complete information to conduct a higher standard of risk assessment. If the Kuomintang Party and Chen Youcheng can downplay the whole incident so lightly, changing the concept to "helping rehabilitated people find jobs," and even proactively give sexual assaulters a chance to return to the political stage, then who will give the victims, and all the people in Wuwuli, Neihu, a chance to live in peace?

Wu Xindai also appealed to Chen Youcheng. It is the party's own choice to continue to be a "people's hall". However, if it cannot maintain or fail to maintain the most basic moral bottom line of society such as "not supporting sexual assault in the election of mayor," please stop abusing empathy for rehabilitated people to shamelessly package their own political calculations.
