Russia and China are expanding existing railway crossings.

The construction of new highways is being discussed and a record in rail transport with China is predicted in 2026.

MOSCOW, September 6 - RIA Novosti. Russia and China are expanding existing railway crossings and are also discussing the construction of new highways, said the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov.

“Four railway crossings with China, all are working efficiently. All the actions we are taking are expansion in existing areas, although new ones are being discussed,” Belozerov told the Izvestia newspaper on the sidelines of the EEF.

According to the head of Russian Railways, the publication writes, the volume of transportation with China is growing. He noted that in 2026 a record will be set in rail transportation.

Trade turnover between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China in the first seven months of 2026 increased by 26.3% compared to the same period in 2025, amounting to $159.241 billion, according to previously published data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
